This project is an exploration of creating distinct characters that look like they belong in the same world. It is also a study in costume design.

Heather

Heather is by far the most developed out of these characters. She existed before this project was even an idea.

One of her draws is her prosthetic arm. disabilities tend to be ignored in fantasy settings. One of my goals as an illustrator is to bring more representation to that. Heather's arm is made of her namesake flower, heather. Blessed by druid's magic, her arm can grow and be used as a shield or rope.

Lucia

Lucia is a blind healer wandering to wherever she is needed. Being born without sight she has always navigated the world in darkness. She instead found her light in her magical gift of healing.

Being a healer, Lucia's design consists of blues, white, and gold. She is meant to have a calming presence, welcoming but still mysterious and reserved.

Briars

Briars the gentle giant, enemy to few, and a wonderful baker, it's safe to say Briars is a kind soul. His design is meant to look welcoming, like the embodiment of a warm hug.

Briar's color scheme is a muted version of the complementary colors blue and orange. this color scheme even carries over to his artillery.

Taryn

An old druid with many adventures under his belt, Taryn takes a piece of his sanctuary wherever he goes. With the help of his magic, Taryn grew a small tree attached to his wheelchair. This tree is occupied by his three bird companions. As a side effect of his magic, it is not uncommon to see flowers growing in Taryn's hair.

When not adventuring Taryn has an aviary that he cares for with his wife.
